A Little Context
Footnotes to the Absurd
What happened in Woodland?
On October 20, 2026, Antonio Moreida was documenting federal immigration activity in Woodland, California, when an SUV driven by an ICE agent struck him, according to Woodland police. Moreida was taken to a hospital after the encounter, which was captured from multiple perspectives.
The official explanation
The Department of Homeland Security denied that ICE hit a pedestrian. Instead, it said an “agitator” jumped onto the vehicle’s hood and slid off after the driver applied the brakes. The agency accused him of “flopping for the camera.” Moreida disputed that account.
What local police found
On October 21, 2026, Woodland police said their review of video contradicted key parts of DHS’s statement: Moreida was struck by the vehicle and had not jumped onto its hood.
Police also said the driver braked before the collision, remained nearby, contacted police, and cooperated with responding officers. Woodland police were not participants in the federal operation and were investigating the collision independently.
What remains unresolved
Reporting published October 23, 2026, described an ongoing criminal investigation, with findings to be submitted to the Yolo County District Attorney’s Office. Establishing that the vehicle struck Moreida does not, by itself, establish the driver’s intent or criminal responsibility.
Why the cameras are in the lineup
The cartoon imagines a spokesperson identifying the recording devices as additional “agitators.” The lineup and dialogue are invented. There is no claim that authorities actually treated the cameras as suspects.
The target is an official explanation contradicted by recorded evidence. When the footage becomes inconvenient, the witnesses become the troublemakers.
